Since I specialize in beach photos, I get a lot of inquiries from out-of-state clients, who are planning their Cape Cod vacation, to photograph them. For families, the photos are a souvenir of their vacation, and possibly to commemorate a family reunion or a special wedding anniversary. For high school seniors, it’s an opportunity to get fun and exciting senior photos in an idyllic place that will look much different than their classmates.
Jen & Sarah of Iowa visited the Cape with their Mom towards the end of June, and since they graduate next June they wanted to do some of their senior photos here as something different for their yearbook page. They were here visiting family – family that I also consider my ‘family’, too – Jen & Sarah’s mom (Sherry) is my ex-husband’s wife’s ex-husband’s sister. Still with me? 🙂
What’s really cool is I photographed Jen & Sarah back in 2011 when they were last here visiting:Wow – how much they’ve changed in 7 years – Now they’re all grown up!
It was a bit of a stressful week working around my already-booked clients, weather, and their itinerary – but we finally got the session done on the morning (Sunrise session!) of their last day on the Cape in Falmouth. We woke up to a thick fog, however. We waited a bit but decided to start and hope for the sun to come out eventually. We ended up photographing at Falmouth Harbor, downtown Woods Hole, and at the beach at Nobska Lighthouse, and at Nobska Light. We even talked the skipper of a sailboat to let us on for a couple of photos. So fun! My biggest challenge – not to do the same ‘poses’ for each girl. Despite being twins, they want to be different from each other. These girls do so many activities in Iowa – Cheer, Dance Team, Track…I love seeing Sherry’s Facebook posts about all their activities. They’ll leave that stuff for a photo session in Iowa – this photo shoot was all about the Cape Cod scenery and experience. Take a look at their gallery!
