Getting in front of a camera can be a daunting experience, to be avoided at all costs. Personally, I have all types of feelings when a camera that I’m not holding comes near me. I feel awkward, stiff, unnatural. I freeze up. And I am super critical of what I look like.
But I know how important it is to BE in photos. It’s not about me – it’s about those who love me. The ‘cost’ of me avoiding it: those who love me don’t have photos of me. My granddaughter was looking at her family’s photo on the wall and telling me how much she loves it, then she remarked, “I wish you were in it, too, grandma.” (I was the one taking the photo, by the way.)
I became a professional photographer and started Cassandra’s Photography 23 years ago as my way of making sure families and high school seniors have beautiful, artistic photos to remind them of the best times in their life – like a souvenir. Photos that never go out of style; photos that will bring you back to a special moment in time when you, and those you love – and who love you – view them.
My mission is to make sure you feel comfortable in front of the camera, that you don’t feel awkward or unnatural, because I want your personality to shine through. That with my skilled posing and lighting, you’ll love the photos of yourself, and your loved ones. And I want to make sure those photographs aren’t lost when you upgrade your cell phone, or when a hard drive fails, or to depend on a mysterious ‘cloud’ to view your photos.
I have lived in Massachusetts most of my life, until I followed my heart and fiancee to spend winters in Arizona (the cold always bothered me anyway), where I loved exploring the Southwest – I guess that makes me a ‘snowbird’. Now that he’s working (and living) in Bermuda, I’ve been spending time (and taking a zillion photos) there, too.
I love to travel; the photos I take are my souvenirs. I am looking forward to a trip to Italy in May 2022 (postponed from 2020) – my first adventure overseas!
I love being a grandma to Collin, Amber, and Jossalyn. I make sure they get family portraits every summer.
I love rooting for the New England Patriots along with my oldest daughter; I’m a huge Elton John fan (I’ve seen him in concert 50+ times), and I love outdoor activities like kayaking, snorkeling, camping, and hiking. I love to photograph sunrises and sunsets, especially at the beach, and at the Grand Canyon.
