Do you feel that getting in front of a camera is a daunting experience, to be avoided at all costs? Personally, I have all types of feelings when a camera that I’m not holding comes near me. I feel awkward, stiff, unnatural. I freeze up. And I am super critical of what I look like in photos.
But I know how important it is to BE in photos. It’s not about me – it’s about those who love me. The ‘cost’ of me avoiding it: those who love me don’t have photos of me. My granddaughter was looking at her family’s photo on the wall and telling me how much she loves it, then she remarked, “I wish you were in it, too, grandma.” (I was the one who took the photo, by the way.)
I became a professional photographer and started Cassandra’s Photography over 25 years ago as my way of making sure families and high school seniors have beautiful, artistic photos to remind them of the best times in their life – like a souvenir. Photos that never go out of style; photos that will bring you back to a special moment in time when you, and those you love – and who love you – view them.
My mission is to make sure you feel comfortable in front of the camera, that you don’t feel awkward or unnatural, because I want your personality to shine through. That with my skilled posing and lighting, you’ll love the photos of yourself, and your loved ones. And I want to make sure those photographs aren’t lost when you upgrade your cell phone, or when a hard drive fails, or to depend on some mysterious ‘cloud’ to view your photos.
About Me:
➡️I’m currently serving my 3rd year as President of the Professional Photographers Association of Massachusetts. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned since first joining the board back in 2009, it’s that this industry is even better when we support each other. I genuinely love helping photographers grow, refine their craft, and see what’s possible for themselves (sometimes before they see it on their own).
➡️Massachusetts has always been home… although I did briefly become a “snowbird” when I followed my heart to Arizona. Turns out, trading snow for desert sunsets was a pretty easy adjustment. These days, life has taken me somewhere even more unexpected – Bermuda – where I spend a lot of time (and yes, take a ridiculous number of photos), while still happily rooted year-round in Wareham.
✈️I’ve always believed travel is one of life’s best teachers. My version of souvenirs just happens to come with a shutter click. From Italy to cruises and wherever I’m headed next, I’m always chasing a new perspective… and probably a good sunset. What has been your most favorite trip?
➡️Closer to home, being a grandma to Collin, Amber, and Jossalyn is one of my greatest joys. And you can bet they’re getting their portraits done every single summer. Some traditions are non-negotiable.
🤿🛶🏈When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me outdoors kayaking, hiking, snorkeling, or standing on a beach at sunrise or sunset, because I’ll never get tired of that. I’m also a lifelong Patriots fan, and a devoted Elton John fan – I’ve been to over 50 concerts – which feels both impressive and slightly ridiculous.
